Animal shelters need your help to combat the cold

If anyone would consider providing the staff members with new cloth masks, it would be highly appreciated.

With winter fast approaching, everyone is preparing to protect themselves from the cold, but the animals in the various animal shelters depend on the goodwill of community members.

Mandy Cattanach, the manager at the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA is appealing to the community to help them with some much-needed items to help keep the animals in their care warm.

“We would appreciate it if the community could help us with blankets, dog/ cat jerseys and newspapers. We are also always in need of tinned dog and cat food.”

She added that if anyone would consider providing the staff members with new cloth masks, it would be highly appreciated.

Cora Bailey, the founder of CLAW explained that the blankets they do have at the clinic are washed by hand daily, but because they do not have running water or electricity, this is a difficult task.

“As winter rushes in we are desperate for blankets for the clinic, and also for the people living in the area. If you are able to donate blankets or winter clothes (also dog jerseys) please let us know and we can organise collection. Every little item helps,” said Cora.Cora can be contacted on 076 850 4466.
