Help the Healing Waters Foundation put food in empty bellies

The Healing Waters Foundation needs the community's help to continue with their feeding scheme and keep up with the demand during this time.

The Healing Waters Foundation based in Discovery, Roodepoort is a non-profit organisation (NPO) that does amazing work throughout the West Rand.

Throughout the year, the Foundation provides 60 families a month with food parcels, and another 120 people a week with cooked meals.

Currently, they are feeding 85 families that need food parcels, and they are serving 100 to 120 cooked meals a day due to the extremely high demand during lockdown. The problem is that the Foundation is not getting enough food donations to help meet this demand, which is only increasing.

Lee Lerm, founder of the Foundation, said that she knows everyone is facing difficult times at the moment, but every small donation, whether it is money or food, helps in some way.

The Foundation is asking the community for any help they can offer, be it food for the parcels or monetary donations so they can buy the food.

“For some of the homeless, this is the only meal they get for the day. We have people fainting because they are hungry. Please help,” Lee pleaded.

To continue distributing food parcels and preparing the daily meals, the Foundation needs the following supplies:

• Non-perishable foods such as rice, pasta, maize meal, tinned food

• Perishable foods such as fruit, vegetables, soya mince, meat, bread

• Polystyrene containers

• Plastic shopping bags

• Cling wrap

• Hand soap
