First weekend of freedom will have a dark Sunday

Various areas in Ward 97 will be without power on 19 April for planned maintenance.

City Power has notified residents of one of the first post-lockdown power interruptions for the purpose of maintenance. The planned maintenance will be conducted on the Peter Road Substation in order to reinstate equipment that has been refurbished after being damaged in a fire in December 2019.

The planned power interruption will occur on Sunday, 19 April from 7am to 3pm, and will affect the following areas:

• Poortview

• Amarosa

• Honeypark

• Tres Jolie

• Alsef Agricultural Holdings

• Willowbrook

• Wilgespruit

• Honeydew Manor

• Kimbult AH

• Ambot AH

• Aanwins AH

• Little Falls

• Strubens Valley

“The maintenance is important to ensure the network performs at its optimal level, and to ensure a security of supply,” said the power entity’s statement.

The power could return at any point during the day, so all supply points are urged to be treated as live at all times. City Power would also like to remind residents that this planned maintenance is subject to cancellation in the event of load-shedding on the same day.

For further information or clarity, residents can call the City Power Call Centre on 0860 JOBURG (0860 562 874).
