A message from Trinityhouse Little Falls head girl

“Seeing the same four walls, the same people, doing the same things day in and day out, becomes draining."

The head girl of Trinityhouse Little Falls, Laurie Smith has sent out some words of encouragement in these trying times that the country is experiencing.

As President Ramaphosa addressed the nation, the Grade 12 learner looked at her family and realised that without God-sent joy and a positive attitude, these next few months would be monotonous, lacking in hope, very trying and stressful.

“Ms Verona Reijnders had a quote stuck on her wall that read, ‘PACE: Positive Attitude Changes Everything’.

“I often would walk past the quote and not think much of it – another shallow motivational quote, is what crossed my mind,” said Laurie.

“Seeing the same four walls, the same people, doing the same things day in and day out, become draining.

“Winston Churchill said during World War 2, ‘Attitude is a small thing that makes a big difference’, and I believe that, as a country, our positive attitude will make a big difference,” said Laurie.

“Seeing our period of lockdown as a way to serve those more vulnerable than ourselves, to use the time to love those around us selflessly, to work hard honouring God and trusting Him to guide not only our paths, but the world’s future, is a manifestation of a ‘positive attitude changes everything’.

“Psalm 118:24 says this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

“God has given us these upcoming days as a blessing, not punishment. We must view this period, not through rose-coloured glasses, but through a God-centred lens, coloured with a positive attitude and joy in this trial.”
