SPCA animals looking for forever homes

Make your house a home by adding a new furry friend to the family after lockdown.

After spending 21 days at home, we may all have ideas for home improvements; whether it be a new desk lamp, or kitchen appliance, a new coat of paint, or even a furry companion.

Nothing makes a house like a home quite like adding a new member to the family, and the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA can help with that.

They have so many beautiful animals just looking for a loving home to be welcomed into after lockdown. At the moment, their adoption folder has 19 special dogs looking for homes and 15 adorable cats and kittens.

Everyone deserves a second chance, especially our furry friends who just want a loving home. The SPCA is sure to have a pup that you will just fall in love with – whether you want a lap dog, a big playful dog, or even a quirky friend with two different-coloured eyes. The cats and kittens, with their beautiful eyes, adorable mannerisms, and the stunning different colours of their fur can also make perfect companions.

The adoption folder on the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA Facebook page (SPCA Roodepoort Krugersdorp) is updated weekly with pictures of the loving fur babies who need homes; from puppies and kittens, to adult dogs and cats.

To adopt a dog, you can go to the SPCA premises in Florida (3 Nadine Street) and meet the dog you are thinking of adopting. There, you can fill in the application form and the SPCA can move on to the next step of home checks and compatibility tests for houses that have other dogs as well. If you are approved, you can take your new fur baby home after he or she has received the required vaccinations, and has been sterilised, microchipped, and dewormed. All inclusive, the adoption fee is R700 for adult dogs and R900 for puppies. Make sure to bring your ID and proof of residence when applying, as well as R100 deposit, which will then be deducted from the adoption fee once the process is complete.

The same process applies with cats, except fees are R500 for adult cats and R650 for kittens, still with a R100 deposit.
