Jeanette Howe from Cash Converters detailed her version of events. “Let me just clarify something to the ones with the loudest opinions as usual, and absolutely no facts,” she started.

“It took them 2,15 minutes to enter and do the damage. The security guard had a gun pointed at him, which is why he didn’t move, and couldn’t press the panic,” she justified the guard’s lack of action, who was seen on the footage spraying sanitizer on the bogus shoppers’ hands.

“Had the security guard not sanitized their hands, it would have been a lot worse,” she clarified, believing that the act slowed down the thugs by a few seconds.

“My colleague and I at the till didn’t even have time to blink when the gun was cocked and pointed at us for the third time during an armed robbery,” she relived the ordeal, explaining that other staff members eventually pressed the panic button.

Implying that these criminals were masterminds, Jeanette said the leader kept reminding his crew about time. “He was aware of the response time to panic button activation,” she perceived.

She further said putting a security gate, panic buttons and security at the door don’t solve anything. “A criminal with intent, planning and purpose will come in, no matter what,” a dejected Jeanette said.

While this ordeal left them traumatised, the robbery of 2018 still lingers in her mind. “In 2018, when 20 armed guys robbed us, it was the scariest and longest 10 minutes of my life. Till today, not one word from the police,” she lamented.

Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Station, Captain Balan Muthan, confirmed a case against the seven armed men, but no arrests have been confirmed yet.
