Honeydew CPF Victim Support Unit receives new mobile phone

"They will never know the number of victims of crime they have helped by their donation to the Honeydew CPF Victim Support Unit."

The Honeydew CPF Victim Support Unit encountered a problem when their mobile phone gave up on them, or rather decided to go on retirement.

It is critical that the Victim Support Unit mobile phone is fully functional, as the volunteer members always carry it on a rotational basis, and it must be available all the time.

Mobile in Africa, the distributors of Xiaomi phones in South Africa, heard about their dilemma, and immediately came to the party by donating a new phone.

“It’s most gratifying to know that there are still companies out there that are prepared to assist in the current economic climate, and we thank them for their kind donation.

“They will never know the number of victims of crime they have helped by their donation to the Honeydew CPF Victim Support Unit,” said the Head of the Victim Support Unit, Hanlee Fourie.

Victim Support volunteers go to crime scenes to assist the victims, whilst trauma counsellors will see the victim a day or two later.

A typical Victim Support volunteer will provide emotional support, and explain to the victim what to expect next.
