#18girlchild gets backing from Independent Police Association

Layla Mohamed continues her pledge to improve the lives of young girls

The wave of support growing for the #18girlchild is promising to turn into a tsunami as Layla Mohamed charms her way into the hearts of her community. With the help of the International Police Association (IPA), Layla made another dent in the monumental task she has chosen to undertake.

The IPA is a non-profit organisation aimed at bringing together former police officers from around the world in the bonds of friendship, community and shared experience. Once a month the Association identifies a cause worth backing, and on Wednesday 4 March, they presented Layla with 200 packs of disposable female sanitary products to go towards her female-focused initiative.

Layla’s journey began by selflessly sacrificing her birthday for the greater good, and is now committed to bringing hope to young girls stifled by poverty. The fight to ensure that all girls have access to adequate sanitary wear will not be won easily, but with a champion of Layla’s stature leading the charge, the rays of light are creeping over the horizon.
