Security officer evades gunshots

BCI thanked ER24 for assisting their reaction officer and Honeydew Police for their quick response.

A BCI Security personnel narrowly escaped with his life after he went under attack by gun-wielding suspects at a property in Strubens Valley on Monday, 16 March.

According to a BCI Facebook post, the respondent was on routine patrol in the area at 10.45am when he noticed a gate standing open.

“… He proceeded slowly towards the gate to observe what was happening.”

“The BCI respondent noticed a man running towards the house from the middle of the yard. As he got in line with the driveway, he saw a silver vehicle parked, with a second man closing the boot. At that moment a gunshot went off and the BCI respondent noticed that they were firing at him,” the post read.

It further explained that another man standing behind the vehicle had pulled out a firearm and began running towards the BCI’s reaction vehicle that was now immobilised as his tyre was shot.

“Our reaction officer got out of the vehicle and proceeded to evade the shots been fired at him and ran towards cover. As soon as he reached cover, the vehicle drove out of the driveway, behind BCI’s reaction vehicle and drove off,” the post explained.
