Krugersdorp artist represented around the country and abroad

The talented artist is currently represented by many galleries nationwide as well as abroad. He’s also a writer and published his book of poetry three years ago, which was a great success.

Self-taught artist, Ric Holt from Krugersdorp exhibited his masterpieces at the art exhibition held at Ramkiki Country Estate in Ruimsig on Sunday, 1 March.

Ric was born in Johannesburg in 1964 and has, from a very young age, shown a great interest in art.

His love for people and nature became evident at the tender age of four when he started drawing everyday life images on paper.

He was a quiet boy who spent his days studying nature in the finest detail, and during his early school days he was far more advanced in capturing images on paper compared to his peers.

“At times my teachers taunted and scolded me, claiming that my works were not my own. That made me to hate drawing,” said Ric.

Much later in his life he started doing pencil drawings, but he did not find it challenging enough and then started dabbling with oil paint and quickly mastered the basics of the medium.

The talented artist is currently represented by many galleries nationwide as well as abroad. He’s also a writer and published his book of poetry three years ago, which was a great success. He also teaches art, and tries to retain each individual’s uniqueness by not forcing his style onto them.

Ric is one of South Africa’s foremost upward-bound artists. His choice of subjects clearly illustrates his ability to transfer his personality and inner feelings to canvas.
