AfriForum rounds off a successful February

Multiple operations yield several positive results

Consistent and continued commitment to the cause seems to be the theme for authorities in 2020 so far. From police to private security companies and neighbourhood watches, all have made great strides in their efforts against criminal elements.

February was no different as AfriForum’s Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch made several arrests and confiscations in a busy month. AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch is a regular presence on operations involving police and other authorities, having assisted in successful raids focused on drugs, illegal mining, explosives and firearms.

Highlights in February include two stolen vehicles and a kidnapped person being recovered, rounding up illegal immigrants and fugitives, as well as mass confiscation of drugs at schools. “It is the responsibility of every institution to establish good and positive cooperation agreements with other structures. We can proudly say that we build on such agreements monthly in Roodepoort,” said Fanie Naudé, chairperson of AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch.

The civil rights organisation’s Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch also participated in the mass community standoff, which saw multiple community role players take a peaceful stand against crime. “AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch thanks everyone for their participation, as well as for their dedication to safeguarding the community,” said Carike van Loggerenberg, Project Coordinator for AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch.
