City Power technicians are currently busy with restoring power to the switching substation in Florida, following a fire earlier today, 4 March.
It is still not clear what caused the fire, but vandalism is suspected.
The fire affects several areas around Florida CBD including 1st, 2nd and 3rd Avenue, The Highway, Fieldhouse Street, Church Street, Goldman Street, Plaza Road, Olivier Street and surroundings.
“We expect that power will be restored by Thursday morning, 5 March, should everything go according to plan. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” Isaac Mangena, spokesperson of City Power commented.
