Eight school children injured in Grobler Park collision

Thirteen children, aged between six and ten, were found wandering around on the scene shortly after the crash.

On Friday morning, 28 February, eight children were left injured when a VW Microbus transporting school children crashed into a light motor vehicle at the Progress and Rothchild Road intersection in Grobler Park.

Emergency services including ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene at 7.35am and discovered the microbus in the middle of the busy Progress Road while the light motor vehicle had come to a halt on the pavement.

Thirteen children, aged between six and 10, were found wandering around on the scene shortly after the crash.

Medics assessed the children and found that eight had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately there were no serious injuries or fatalities.

The children were treated for their injuries and transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

Roodepoort Police and Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) were on the scene for further investigations.

The scene was cleared shortly after the accident and the normal flow of traffic resumed.
