Stage 3 rotational loadshedding will be implemented today, 15 February at 9am and will continue until Monday morning.
Eskom announced that despite some units having returned to service last night, Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented from 9am today to accommodate the shortage of capacity and to replenish emergency reserves, this is planned to continue until 5am on Monday, 17 February.
Diesel reserves for open cycle gas turbines abs water reserves for the hydro-pimped storage schemes were utilised extensively yesterday and overnight to supplement the storage of capacity and are not at adequate levels to sustain the capacity shortage for today.
Unplanned outages and breakdowns were at 10 612MW as of 6am this morning while unplanned maintenence is at 6574MW.
As the system is vulnerable, Eskom further stated that any additional changes on the system performance may require a shift in stage at short notice.
