Show you support during Rare Diseases Month

Supporting the Denim Walk By Night fundraiser on 29 February can save lives.

Imagine being diagnosed with a disease that maybe only you knew existed, resulting in you having to live with the knowledge that your access to medical care will be restricted.

Rare Diseases South Africa (RDSA) is inviting the community to join and celebrate Rare Disease Day on 29 February to help support those with such a disease in any way possible.

South Africa’s medical aids do not provide all the necessary funding to help those suffering from a rare condition with their everyday medication and treatment. RDSA has been developed to reach out a helping hand by supporting those patients emotionally, financially, and even morally.

Medical expertise and knowledge on rare diseases are scarce, and people often wait years for a diagnosis and struggle to access the medicines or care they need.

In support of all #RareDiseaseWarriors, RDSA is hosting a Denim Walk By Night fundraiser, that will take place on 29 February at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden. Gates will open at 4pm for registration and the walk will start at 7pm.

Bring your headlamps and torches, and head down one of the two routes; the 1.5km route that is wheelchair-friendly, or the 2.5km route for the more enthusiastic walkers and runners.

Entry ranges from R50 to R100 for the different age groups. Tickets are available at https://www.quicket.co.za; search for Denim Walk By Night.

Little Field Mouse Market will be hosting a moonlight market alongside the walk, offering a variety of food and craft vendors.

Bring your picnic blankets and chairs, and show your support for this good cause.
