The past weekend had the Honeydew Police together with the patrollers from the Honeydew Community Policing Forum hard at work, trying to keep the community safe.
The patrollers barely had any rest on the night of 1 and 2 February as they assisted the police in conducting stops and searches in the area.
According to the vice-chairperson of the forum, Jon Rosenberg, the aim of the operation was to search the cars for suspicious objects and check vehicle licence disks. Those driving under the influence of alcohol were also not lucky on those days.
Rosenberg did clarify, however, that searches and arrests were only executed by the police.
The Sector 2 Honeydew CPF page acknowledged the dedication of the new, young members at Honeydew Police Station for their brilliance during the two-day operation.
Rosenberg was very impressed with the turnout of the patrollers – an impressive 21 on Saturday night – although he felt that more people should come on board. “We definitely still want more patrollers, especially from other sectors because the bulk of the patrollers come from Sector 2,” he said.
