Nissan bakkie suspect arrested

The man is wanted for crimes in multiple areas.

With the assistance of community members, police apprehended a suspect for the use of a motor vehicle without its owner’s consent, and for theft. The silver Nissan NP200 was the subject of several alerts in the Roodepoort area.

The man was caught attempting to steal petrol in the Magaliesburg area on Friday, 17 January and was subsequently arrested.

Roodepoort Police spokesperson, Captain Juanita-Anne Yorke praised the members saying, “A quick response led to the arrest of a male suspect who was found in possession of the vehicle. He was detained at the Magaliesburg Police Station and then transported to Roodepoort Police Station. He will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court.”

The suspect has been linked to another case in Muldersdrift and further investigations are currently underway. Yorke reiterated the police’s commitment to the community, concluding, “Roodepoort Police would like to thank all stakeholders involved; together we can make a difference”.
