Duiker gets stuck in Roodekrans

"When we got there, we used a car-jack to push the palisades apart and free the duiker"

On 18 November, the Roodekrans Neighborhood Watch (RNW) received a call about a duiker ram that was stuck in a resident’s palisade fence, near Ridgevale Primary School.

“We received the call at about 6.30am. When we arrived there, we used a car-jack to push the palisades apart and free the duiker. Once he had been freed, he was checked for injuries, and afterwards he was sedated so that he could be transported,” said Andreas Oberlechner, the chairman of RNW.

The duiker was taken to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden, and released with the help of Georgina Lackinger from the Johannesburg Wildlife Vet, and Andries Visagie, a resident living in the area where the duiker was found.
