Untrained dog jumps into action

It was at this point where the wannabe K9 decided to take her chance and jump at the opportunity, and literally through the open door to join in the chase.

An untrained ridgeback cross boerboel left BCI Security personnel convinced that it can be a great asset to the K9 unit after it assisted in a crime scene in Honeydew in the early hours of Friday, 8 November.

Out of nowhere, the dog took its chance to convince the officers, after they responded to a property which had allegedly been invaded by intruders.

“Two vehicles arrived at the property, one being that of the operations manager. As it is a very big property, the vehicles drove in and parked inside. As the members got out they heard people running and gave chase,” the Facebook post read.

It was at this point where the wannabe K9 decided to take her chance and jump at the opportunity, and literally through the open door, to join in the chase.

“She didn’t want to go through the normal application process, and ‘jumped’ the queue. When the operations manager got back to his vehicle, he found that she had made herself comfortable on the front seat”.

“It took a lot of negotiating and explaining to convince her to climb out, and that giving her preference was unfair to all the other K9s that want to join BCI.”

“Only after being promised that she will be contacted by the HR manager during office hours, did she finally decide to get out,” the post concluded.

BCI’s operations manager, Dan Belcher, said the company would contact the dog’s owner to give it some real K9 experience in future.
