O Kae Molao operations sweep through Honeydew

During the operation, efforts were focused on Plot 323 in Wilgespruit, where the community had previously accused police of being too scared to raid the informal dwellings, which are said to be crime-infested.

 

Operation O Kae Molao, which translates to ‘where is the law’, targeted the Honeydew policing precinct on Thursday, 31 October.

All Johannesburg West police stations; Soweto West and East police stations; Johannesburg Metro Police Department and the Department of Customs, rallied in Honeydew to conduct a massive operation, which was met by significant successes.

Prior to the operation, the Honeydew Police station commander, Brigadier Anesh Maharaj, briefed all law enforcement agencies during a parade at Northgate Mall and reminded the officers about what the operation entailed. He also warned them against corruption.

Police arrested two suspects for operating a shebeen without a licence on the plot. Police further confiscated liquor and demolished illegal structures that had been erected without permission.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan indicated that these operations are ongoing in all districts in the province to help ensure the safety of all Gauteng residents.
