Head boy heads charity blood drive

Dashielle mentioned the late Shanaya Govender as one of the brave people that have touched his life.

Thirteen-year-old Dashielle Naidoo from Weltevreden Park Primary will be hosting a charity blood drive at the school in collaboration with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) and Rainbows and Smiles to support children with cancer.

The charity blood drive will be held on 23 November from 10am to 3pm in the Weltevreden Park Primary School hall.

Dashielle is a passionate young man determined to make a difference. He is also the head boy of the school and possesses exceptional leadership skills.

For this initiative, he is hoping to have a minimum of 50 bleeds and have a lot of people supporting children with cancer.

When asked about the source of his passion, Dashielle responded by mentioning the late Shanaya Govender as one of the brave people that have touched his life.

He said, “This initiative serves as an eye-opener to the challenges that come with cancer. People need to accept that cancer is real and needs to be faced head-on.”

This young leader has run many community projects promoting awareness of the symptoms of cancer, and also does talks on the subject at school.

Dashielle’s mother, Tracy Naidoo said, “I think that children have the right to be heard and to be supported, especially in a great initiative like the one that my son is involved in. He is a well-behaved young man who is always willing to help.”
