The word of the day for 25 October is: Forgiveness.

The word of the day for 25 October is: Forgiveness.

‘Forgiveness’ is defined as letting go of past grudges or lingering anger against a person or group of people.

A common misconception is that forgiveness means you need to forget what has happened. There are certain things we cannot forget, but the point of forgiveness is that we let go of the anger and resentment we are holding.

Jonathan Lockwood Huie said, “Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace.”

While we cannot forget, we can make a conscious decision not to let the bad things destroy us.

Lewis B Smedes said, “To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that prisoner was you.”

When we forgive we open up ourselves to new opportunities for growth. We become happier and more willing to take on challenges because we don’t have the resentment holding us back.

Paul Lewis Boese said, “Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.”
