West Rand model earns ticket to Hollywood

The overseas trip is worth a whopping R85 000.

 

Mariela Romanelli, a learner at The King’s School West Rand who is also a model, is taking the world of pageantry by storm.

The Grade 3 learner has recently added another crown to her promising career after she was crowned Little Miss South Africa 2020 on 12 October, a title which earned her numerous prizes including a fully paid trip to Hollywood California in USA, where she will represent South Africa at The World Championships of Performing Arts 2020.

Mariela is no stranger to the world of pageantry, although she is only nine years old. She already has a long list of accomplishments, the most recent being crowned Miss Randfontein Junior 2019.

Other past achievements include Miss Mad Rage Winner 2017; Miss Junior Province Overall 2018; Miss Province Gauteng 2018; Little Miss Elite South Africa 2018 and Miss Million Dollar 2018.

Besides strutting her stuff on the ramp, Mariela prides herself on constantly being involved in charity work, and when she’s asked why, she replies, “To give makes me happy and it’s better to give than to receive”.

“If you spend a couple of minutes in Mariela’s presence, you will soon learn that she is passionate about serving others and a true advocate for a cause,” said Mercia Swanepoel, a Performing Arts and Drama educator.

Her teacher added that Mariela is also a talented actress and dancer and has been invited to perform at both RACA as well as the National Eisteddfod Academy Showcase evenings.
