Charity starts at school

The Ogle Foundation NPC visits Florida Primary School to donate much-needed sanitary towels.

Florida Primary gets a visit from The Ogle Foundation

The Ogle Foundation NPC is a non-profit company assisting anyone they can in various ways. They have several projects that are currently being conducted and more to come.

The organisation tries to provide help, support, and development opportunities to unemployed youth, men, and women. They work to help victims of all types of abuse, abandonment, and homelessness.

Some projects this organisation undertakes are smaller than others but no less important. While its biggest goal is to build a shelter and care centre, Patty Ogle (the Founder) takes on even the smallest campaigns to bring joy in big ways.

Sanitary products are essential to young women who are going through puberty; unfortunately, not all of them can afford these products. As a result, learners are forced to take up to a week off from school at a time.

As a part of their second-last campaign for the year, the Ogle Foundation visited Florida Primary School on 22 October to donate sanitary towels to the learners.

Three-hundred-and-thirty female learners, from Grade 4 to Grade 7, gathered in the school hall for an educational and entertaining day. The girls were given sanitary towel packages consisting of two packets of sanitary towels each. The teachers, learners, and Ogle Foundation staff sang, danced, and laughed throughout the event.

The learners learned a lot about puberty, hygiene and many different aspects of being a woman in a fun way. By the end of the day, the learners and teachers were asking when they would get another visit from Patty and her friends.

The Ogle Foundation is hoping to visit more schools with this campaign to help the learners who cannot afford these products. To do this, they need sanitary towels to donate, which is why they are asking the community to help by donating these products. The sanitary towels are also donated to schools to use as emergency stock for the female learners.
