Word of the day

The word of the day for 16 October is: Acceptance.

The word of the day for 16 October is: Acceptance.

One of the definitions of ‘acceptance’ is the willingness to tolerate a difficult situation.

Acceptance is not only tolerating a difficult situation, but making peace with it. Sometimes things happen that we don’t like, or we do things that we wish we could change, but we can’t predict the future, nor can we change the past. We must accept what we cannot change and see the silver lining. Something may not work in our favour now, but we can turn it into something that will.

Jimmy Dean said, “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”

We need to find the positive side of a difficult situation so we don’t let the negativity consume us. We can’t be happy all the time, but we can make a conscious decision to try; there usually is a silver lining to a bad situation.

Og Mandino said, “I will love the light, for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars.”
