The word of the day for 15 October is: Begin.

To ‘begin’ is to perform or undergo the first part of an action or activity.

Lao Tzu said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”

Goals can’t be achieved just by dreaming that they will be, we need to work towards them. Sometimes we give up on our dreams because they seem too far out of reach and the idea of achieving them seems unfathomable, but we need to start somewhere.

We need to take that first step and the rest will follow. The first step is always the hardest, but it will get easier. You don’t need to jump from zero to 100 in one step, take it slowly; the small things can make a huge difference. It’s like Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.”
