Word of the day

The word of the day for 13 October is: Confidence

The word of the day for 13 October is: Confidence.

‘Confidence’ is defined as a feeling of self-assurance that arises from an appreciation of one’s abilities or qualities.

Confidence comes naturally to some, but others need to work towards it. Low self-esteem and poor self-confidence prevent people from doing things they love because either they feel that they’re not good enough or someone else has made them feel that way.

We must realise that while we may not be the best in the world at something, it does not mean we should stop doing what we love and what makes us happy.

Henry van Dyke said, “Use what talent you possess, the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sing best.”

We need to have a little faith in ourselves and in others. Do what you love because it makes you happy, not to make someone else happy. We should motivate people to do what they love, not criticise them for not being the best.

Pablo Picasso said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”

We should encourage people, not stop them from exploring and enjoying their talents.
