Word of the day

The word of the day for 12 October is: Patience.

The word of the day for 12 October is: Patience.

‘Patience’ is defined as the capacity to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.

Life can be unpredictable and people are always told to have patience, but few people do. Everything annoys everyone and there is always something to complain about. That shouldn’t be how we live our lives. We cannot let one bad thing ruin our day, we need to be patient with situations and with people.

We also need to practise patience when we are working towards a goal. Not everything will happen immediately and instant gratification isn’t as rewarding. Patience is difficult, but the result is always worth it.

Aristotle said, “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.”

We need to accept that some things take time and we cannot do everything at once. Sometimes not overwhelming ourselves is the best way to get things done. If we take on too much at once, we lose the motivation to do things, but if we do things one step at a time, we can accomplish more because we are not putting too much unnecessary pressure on ourselves.

Abraham Lincoln said, “I am a slow walker, but I never walk back.”

We can do things slowly as long as we do what needs to be done.
