Attempted murder suspects easily arrested

“As soon as he had appeared in court, the suspect was immediately re-arrested, together with the 21-year-old suspect,” she explained.

Two suspects have been put behind bars for attempted murder following a month-long investigating by Muldersdrift Police Station.

Both suspects, aged 21 and 27, were nabbed for an incident that occurred on 8 September in Rietfontein, Muldersdrift.

“It was alleged that on Sunday, 8 September 2019 at approximately 11pm, a person aged 26 was accused of robbing one of the suspects of his cellphone. After an argument, the suspect, aged 27, pulled out a firearm and shot four people that were at the scene,” the spokesperson for the station, Constable Slindile Ntuli, explained, adding that one of the wounded victims was still in hospital in a critical condition.

She said detective Constable Mncedisi Bambiso was assigned to investigate the case and managed to circulate the identity number of one of the suspects after he dropped his wallet while escaping arrest.

“The dedicated detective discovered that the suspect had an upcoming case, for which he had to appear in the Protea Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 8 October. Bambiso waited for the suspect’s appearance date in court, and as soon as he had appeared, he was immediately re-arrested, together with the 21-year-old suspect,” she explained.

She went on to say, “Upon further investigation, the unlicensed firearm which was used to shoot the four victims was found in the possession of the suspects”.

Both suspects will appear before the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.

Muldersdrift Police’s station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare, praised Bambiso for the arrest, saying,”A big thank you goes to detective Constable Bambiso. I applaud you for your consistency, dedication and time that you have put into this matter. May this be an example to all the criminals who think they are above the law”.
