According to Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, the suspects broke into the property at about 3am that morning and tied up all the victims before escaping with expensive valuables.

“The suspects gained entry by breaking the window into the kitchen,” he said.

“A man was sleeping in his bedroom with his wife when he heard his dogs barking and his son shouting ‘I will shoot you’. His wife then woke up and put on the lights and found three black men in the passage who immediately pointed firearms at her,” he explained.

He added that she and her son and daughter were pushed into a bedroom where they were tied up. “They tied them up with clothes in the bedroom, and started ransacking the house. The suspects took two televisions; four cellphones and six laptops to the value of R80 000,” Muthan explained.

After the criminals had left, Muthan said the victims managed to untie themselves and went to a neighbour to get help to call the police.
