Putting the name to the face

The day concluded with a free delicious boerewors roll for every community member who attended the outing.

Some Little Falls community members had an opportunity to put the face to the name of numerous residents they get to interact with on social platforms, but never get the chance to meet in person.

This opportunity was made possible when the LIFCO Community hosted a community braai at the Little Falls Dam on Heritage Day, Tuesday, 24 September.

This full-day event saw community members flock to the park with children and friends to enjoy a day which was filled with several activities, including a fascinating K9 unit drug test demonstration by BCI Security.

The LIFCO chairperson, Marietjie Neumann, explained the purpose of the event. “The event was basically aimed at getting to know your neighbour. We see everybody on the community groups but we never get to put the name to the face. So the event was meant to get everybody out to match the faces to the people they communicate with on these platforms,” she explained.

She emphasised that the community is close-knit, but people hardly see each other. She then added that the event was also aimed at getting the children to mingle and have fun outdoors with the games made available for them.

The day concluded with a free delicious boerewors roll for every community member who attended the outing.
