School proud of its mini chefs

Despite their tantalising dishes, the duo was beaten to the title by learners from Sandton and the East Rand.

Two aspiring young chefs from Trinityhouse Little Falls Preparatory School came short after recently participating in the final of the Taste Bud Battle competition.

Caleigh Palmer (11) and Tyron Hardy (6) represented their school on Saturday, 14 September at the long-awaited final of the popular kids cook-off show, which took place at the Capsicum Culinary Studio in Rosebank.

Despite their tantalising dishes, the duo was beaten to the title by learners from Sandton and the East Rand.

Sixteen-year-old Trezar Bhana (Senior Chef Winner) from Crawford Sandton College and little five-year-old Yusri Zunaid (Mini Chef Winner) from Crawford Sandton Pre-Primary both took top chef honours in their age categories. And 11-year-old Gabriella Shalekoff of King David Linksfield scooped the Junior Chef 2019 title at this inaugural event, which has proved a massive success, according to the COO, Donna Verrydt.

Although, the Trinityhouse learners lost in the big prizes, their principal, Karen Cammell, remains proud of them. “On behalf of the school, we would like to congratulate both learners for making it to the finals of Taste Bud Battle. We are extremely proud of you,” she said.
