A very special 93rd birthday for Isabel

Friends and family got together at the Wilro Park Retirement home to surprise 93-year-old Isabel Scott on her birthday, making it a very special one out of the many she has had in her lifetime.

The well-dressed birthday girl got the surprise of her life when she finally came into the room and saw everyone gathered around a decorated table, all reminding her of how special she is.

Isabel is a former school teacher with a master’s qualification in piano who also gave lessons. When the Northsider asked Isabel whether she can still play the piano, she answered with a smile on her face and said, “As ek moet speel, ja.”

Isabel is the widow of the late Reverend Louis Scott, with whom she had two daughters.

Bible School Principal, Professor Jan Hattingh said, “We have been friends for more than 50 years and I know Isabel as a brilliant and smart lady.

At her age, Isabel has taught her caregiver how to knit, and they do a lot of baking together.

Her caregiver, Lesego Mosebetsi, said, “I have worked with Isabel since last year, when she came out of hospital after a hip operation. She is great fun to be around and just a good person who likes to keep busy.”

Throughout her birthday party, Isabel kept walking around and chatting with her loved ones who were so entertained and enjoyed her good sense of humour.

Everybody described her as a very well-dressed and well-spoken lady who enjoys going to church and knitting.
