Three cars collide on the corner of Jersey and Albertina Sisulu Roads

One of the drivers sustained moderate injuries and was taken to hospital by ER24 paramedics.

At about 7.30am yesterday morning, 27 August, three motor vehicles were involved in an accident on the corner of Jersey and Albertina Sisulu Roads in Princess, Roodepoort.
A white Opel Corsa was travelling down Jersey Road at high speed and allegedly did not stop at the stop street before turning onto Albertina Sisulu Road. A Ford Ranger, coming from Corlett Avenue, then collided with the Corsa. In an attempt to lessen the impact, the driver of the Corsa swerved head-on into a Chevrolet Avios travelling in the opposite direction.

Pieces of all three cars were scattered in the road and on the sidewalks.

ER24 was at the scene, as well as Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), First Help, and Emer-G-Med. The driver of the Corsa was loaded into one of the two ER24 ambulances to be assessed by paramedics, while the Avios driver was being assessed in the other.
ER24 reported that the Corsa driver sustained moderate injuries and was being taken to hospital. The driver of the Ford Ranger was unharmed, and the Avios driver said she was shaken up but was not hurt, apart from some pain in her back.

The three vehicles involved were moved out of the road to allow traffic to pass.

According to the driver of the Avios, the accident was so bad, that had the Corsa driver not swerved to try to avoid the Ranger, the collision would probably have killed him.
Traffic on Albertina Sisulu Road and the surrounding roads was slow, but Emer-G-Med and First Help responders were directing traffic at the scene to keep it moving at a steady pace.
