On Saturday, 27 July, Lebogang Mathukwi, a Hoërskool Florida learner, took part in the finals of an online mathematics competition, which was held at the school.
Being the first and only finalist from his school, he said he is waiting patiently for the results to be released on Thursday, 1 August.
“Generally speaking, the competition went well. I think I did a little better than in the first round and the whole experience was an eye-opener. I really enjoyed myself and I cannot wait for Thursday,” said Mathukwi.
The Afrikaans online maths competition was initiated last year.
This year was Mathukwi’s second chance at participating in the competition and he said he is pleased that he did not give up.
