Following the perplexing questions raised by concerned parents wanting to know whether PLG Allens View Academy is registered or not, the Northsider has finally found the answer.

It has been confirmed to the Northsider that the private school, based in Allen’s Nek, is not registered as an independent school with the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE), and as a result was served with a warning to stop operating at the beginning of the year.

In a media inquiry response, GDE spokesperson, Steve Mabona, said, “PLG Allens View Academy is not registered as an Independent School. The school was served with a letter to stop operating on 11 January 2019”.

The damning allegations about PLG Schools’ credibility came to the public’s attention after an exposé on Carte Blanche.

The institution was approached for comment on the matter; however, to date no response has been offered to us.

It is unclear at this stage whether the school is still operating, but most parents that have spoken to the publication have since removed their children from the school.

Some institutions in the area have confirmed the acceptance of some learners from the PLG Allens View Academy.

Parents are urged to check the registration of the school with GDE before enrolling their children, by calling the GDE on 011 355 0000.
