Appeal for equipment to rebuilt burnt shack

After the disaster, the community rallied together and collected items for the family that had lost everything in the fire.

The Muldersdrift community has again shown their support to a destitute family following a shack fire at Video informal settlement in Ward 23.

This mysterious fire broke out in a shack on Saturday, 28 June; however, the community managed to contain it, preventing it from spreading to other shacks.

The community rallied together and collected items for the family that had lost everything in the fire.

A donation of food and clothes was delivered by Shenan Cochrane, a member of the executive of the Muldersdrift Fire Protection Association (FPA) on Sunday, 29 June.

More donations were also made by other organisations. However, Shenan lamented that the family still needed more to restart their lives. “It was very sad to see they have lost all their worldly possessions. We appeal to anyone willing to assist with furniture and corrugated iron (zinc) to donate it as the family needs to rebuild their shack,” she appealed.

She encouraged anyone willing to help to contact Pretty on 084 799 0409.
