KSWR bags almost 200 accolades

The school won 71 gold, 84 silver and 44 bronze medals.

The King’s School West Rand (KSWR) was one medal shy of claiming 200 at the recent South African Championships of Performing Arts (SACOPA) in Rustenburg.

It is the biggest and most difficult competition of its kind and 15 000 items were entered this year.

The KSWR learners participated in the genres of acting, dancing, instrumental, vocals, and modelling, to mention a few.

The school won 71 gold, 84 silver and 44 bronze medals.

In addition, the school also won the overall trophy for production lines in the age group of eight to 15 years.

Connor Wendt and his partner, Rebecca Arthur, won an overall Trophy for Accompanied Vocals for the age group eight to 15 years.

Ashleigh Teen was crowned Miss Pre-Teen International and will represent South Africa in Los Angeles as a member of Team SA.

“We congratulate our learners on their exceptional performances and the accolades they received. We are super proud of them,” said Michelle Dos Ramos, the school’s marketing coordinator.

She also sent a big thank you to Mercia Swanepoel (coach), Gerrie Swanepoel (team manager) and all the parents of the learners who participated.
