WATCH: Motorist shot at during attempted hijacking in Wilro Park

The victim managed to escape the hijackers and was airlifted.

A motorist has been airlifted to hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds following an attempted hijacking this afternoon, Thursday, 30 May, in Wilro Park.

According to an Apcan Security officer, Ewert Bredenhann, on scene, the perpertrators travelling in a white BMW opened fire on the motorist while trying to hijack him near Ontdekkers and CR Swart Roads.

However, the victim managed to escape the hijacking and sped to the Engen garage on CR Swart where he fell out off the car and acquired help.

At the scene, two bullets shattered the driver’s side of the window. The car also has a stain of blood on the door.

The man was airlifted by a Netcare911 chopper.

Law enforcement agencies including Gauteng Traffic and Johannesburg Metro Police Departement are on scene to investigate the incident.
