Over 100 nabbed in the JHB West Cluster

The suspects will appear in the Randburg and Roodepoort Magistrates’ Courts soon.

 

A total of 104 suspects were put behind bars between 17 to 19 May in areas under the Johannesburg West Cluster.

The areas include Douglasdale, Roodepoort, Florida, Linden and Diepsloot where suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from rape, murder, house robbery, kidnapping, possession of dangerous weapons, dealing and cultivation of dagga, drunken driving, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and shoplifting.

The highlight of the success was the arrests of suspects dealing in banned substances. “An intelligence-driven operation led by the JHB West Cluster Crime Intelligence Unit led to the arrest of five suspects for dealing and cultivation of dagga in Olivedale near Douglasdale. In another incident, two suspect aged 28 and 20 were arrested in Diepsloot Extension 2 for dealing in drugs, which included nyaope and rock,” Captain Mpho Tshethane, the stand-by duty officer explained.

“The suspects will appear in the Randburg and Roodepoort Magistrates’ Courts soon,” she added.

“The police will continue with these operations to make sure that our areas are crime-free zones. Members of the community are advised to keep on reporting all activities to the police by phoning 0860 010 111,” she advised.
