Charter College nominates its new charity for 2019 projects

The school is still in need of a number of items to help the MOU.

Charter College International High School has chosen the Hillbrow Community Maternity and Obstetric Unit (MOU) as the beneficiary for the school’s 2019 charity work.

Every year, Charter College names a charity or organisation to become the beneficiary of the community and charity work that the school does with its learners, teachers, and parents. Mothers who go to the Hillbrow MOU to give birth often go to the unit with just the clothes on their back and often possess nothing to clothe their babies in once they were born.

In aid of these struggling mothers, Charter College collected goods for the babies and mothers for the last few weeks. Once they had collected enough, some of the learners, parents, and teachers got together on Saturday, 6 April to pack care bags to send to Hillbrow MOU. They were able to pack a total of 57 bags, but are still in need of 40 babygrows and 40 vests to finish off the first set of bags.

The school plans to continue the project for the rest of the year, but they still need:

• Receiving blankets

• Linen savers

• Sanitary pads

• Nappies

• Vests

• Babygrows

• Baby socks

• Beanies

• Wash cloths

• Baby soap

• Cotton wool
