WATCH: Youngster risks his life chasing cellphone thieves

A youngster risked his life during the weekend and used his car to chase after criminals who had allegedly stolen his cellphone in Kloofendal.

According to a private security reaction officer who assisted with the apprehension of the suspects, the victim was asked for assistance by a group of men travelling in a white Toyota Tazz on Sunday, 17 March.

“The men asked to use to the victim’s cellphone for an emergency call at the corner of Christiaan de Wet and Wilgerood Roads and then drove away with it,” the officer reported.

“The owner of the phone gave chase along Christiaan De Wet Road, up to the Papachinos restaurant, where they lost control of the vehicle,” he said.

Two of the three suspects were apprehended on the arrival of law enforcement. The owner of the phone can be seen on the video grabbing his cellphone from one of the criminals.

The Northsider learnt that a case could not be opened at the local police station because the phone had been recovered.
