Ward 83 councillor loses battle against cancer

She passed away last night, 15 March

The councillor for Ward 83, Suzanne Clarke, passed away last night, 15 March after a long and heroic battle with cancer.

The committee of the Roodekrans Neighbourhhod Watch (RNW) broke the news on their Facebook page early this morning.

“It is with great sadness and a profound sense of loss that we have to announce the passing of Ward Councillor Suzanne Clarke who passed away during the night. We have lost a truly remarkable person who dedicated her life to uplifting and assisting everyone that sought her help and she gave of herself without a second thought for her own well-being.

Suzanne will be greatly missed and her passing will leave a void in our community that will be hard to fill. We will be forever in her debt.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Suzanne’s family, friends and acquaintances,” the post read.

Messages from the community, as well as some of her fellow councillors, streamed in, with Caleb Finn, ward 70 councillor, saying, “I am extremely saddened by the passing of Councillor Suzanne Clarke.

She was an inspiration to myself and many other councillors as she fought passionately for what is right. I was blessed to have received her assistance and guidance on some difficult matters, nothing was ever too difficult for Suzanne, and she always found a way. Her passion and dedication will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this very difficult time.”
