Zane Meas to be seen in new film

‘I really enjoyed my role in Liewe Lisa’

Zane Meas has been a regular visitor in many a living room across South Africa, and is not showing any sign of slowing down soon.

The 53-year-old actor has just completed filming on the new Afrikaans film, Liewe Lisa, and said, “I really enjoyed my role in the film. I play the role of Tom, a fisherman who turned out to be so much more. It was a nice role; one I could sink my teeth into. Another thing I enjoyed was the fact that the director of the film, Hennie Cronjé, asked me for a lot of advice and we could work together.”He also said that he hoped people would go and see the film,

“I really hope that it will be successful and that those who go see it will enjoy it. There is a nice message not only for young lovers, and it is also a story of second chances,” he said.

When he is not busy with a film or play, he spends time at his Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) called the Fatherhood Foundation. “We do programmes in schools, and also work with men, hosting camps and men’s conferences. I write books, music and movies on the subject of fatherlessness and how this devastating pandemic is affecting all of us,” Zane said.

And even though this keeps him quite busy, he loves to use some of the little spare time he does have to spend with his family and playing some golf, and he explained, “I have been married for 25 years and we have five beautiful children. My family is very important to me and is my focal point. I always try my best to spend a lot of my time with them. And, if there is a spare moment, I love to play golf as well. I also try to make time to listen to my favourite music (jazz, gospel and old school R&B) and read a bit. At the moment, I am reading a book by one of my favourite South African authors, Deon Meyer.”

His career has been filled with many highlights and very few low points, “Except for one bad experience with a producer early on in my career, I have been fairly blessed to have good experiences in almost everything I have done.”He concluded by saying, “My family and my work at the NGO are very close to my heart and also serve as my motivation to get up in the morning and try to make a difference where I can.”
