Charterhouse sets up very own wax museum

The 'statues' would come to life when someone showed interest in their display.

Charterhouse School took its Grade 5 learners on a trip to another world when they set up a ‘wax museum’ for which the learners had to dress up as their favourite author.

The Grade 5 learners have, this term, been learning all about fiction and some of the most notable authors to have ever put pen to paper in the history of modern literature. The culmination of all of this work was a special ‘wax museum’ which the learners put together.

The costumed learners would stand still like wax statues at their stations and wait for a passer-by to interact with them so that they could dive into detail about their favourite author. They were tasked with providing background on the author’s personal life while also having to shed some light on how successful they were during their lifetimes.

There were some astounding set-ups as some of the children went out of their way to do their best. There were also all sorts of authors on show, from comic book legend Stan Lee to adventurer Bear Grylls, legendary children’s writers such as Enid Blyton, Dr Seuss, and Roald Dahl, and of course renowned author of the Goosebumps series, RL Stine.
