Still much left to be done by JRA

Blockwatch finds repairs 'shocking'.

Louis Roelof van der Merwe, the Executive Committee Member for Community Safety and Security of Florida Blockwatch Sector 2, has expressed, on behalf of his organisation, his dismay about the repairs that the Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) has done, as well as the outstanding repairs, which pose a potential danger to the community.

In another bid to have their demands met, the blockwatch wrote the following letter to the Regional Director of Region C, Mlameli Belot. (For easy reading the Record has paraphrased parts of the letter).

Van der Merwe wrote as follows:”I place on record that the following areas are still not repaired:

1) At Alexandra Street, corner 9th Avenue, half of the multiple potholes are repaired and the other half not.

2) At Eendrag Street, corner 9th Avenue, there are multiple potholes.

3) At Beacon Street, corner The Highway, there is a huge, dangerous pothole.

4) At the four-way intersection of The Highway and 9th Avenue, there are small potholes at all the stop signs.

5) The main storm-water drains are still left exposed and dangerous, especially on Die Ou Pad and Madeleine Street.

6) At the World Harvest International Church’s entrance on 9th Avenue, the storm-water drains are also exposed.

I further place on record that the level and quality of the repairs is shocking,” concluded an obviously disgusted Van der Merwe.
