Dismemberment murder a copycat crime, said State Prosecutor Temeki

Murderer's name revealed.

State Prosecutor, Paseka Temeki, told the Record that the 25-year-old who allegedly murdered and dismembered his flatmate before attempting to burn the remains on 11 January, is Sandile Gamede.

Temeki, who is the State Prosecutor in the case being heard in Court K, said he did not recall the name of the victim, but will have the Clerk of the Court find out. The last time Gamede appeared was on 13 February, but the case was moved to Court I for a bail application, since the magistrate who presides over the case is not allowed to hear the bail application as well. Gamede appeared in Court I yesterday, but at the time of publication, the outcome was still unknown.

Temeki highlighted an interesting point. “Funny enough, he shares the same name as Sandile Mantsoe, who dealt in Forex and murdered his girlfriend. He dumped her body and then burnt her.

“This is exactly what Gamede did. He also dealt in Forex, cut his victim into pieces, dumped the body and burnt it. It looks like a copycat crime,” said Temeki.

Temeki said he will be able to provide the victim’s name as well as the accused’s next court appearance.
