WARNING: Beyers Naudé Drive blocked off by protesters

Motorists have been cautioned to avoid that area.

 

The demolition of illegal structures in Zandspruit has resulted in protest action by the locals today, Tuesday, 5 February.

The protesters have placed burning tyres across Beyers Naudé Drive, disrupting the flow of traffic in that area.

Johannesburg Metro Police Superintendent Wandile Mrubata who told Northsider the reason for the protest confirmed that law enforcement was on scene monitoring the situation. “We demolished structures next to Emthonjeni earlier on, which led them to protest. We are currently at the scene,” he confirmed.

Motorists have been cautioned to avoid that area.
