Roodepoort Police members performed stop-and-search operations on 29 January, which resulted in the arrest of 16 suspects.
The suspects, aged between 16 and 18, were arrested on various charges, including common robbery, common assault (in terms of the Domestic Violence Act 116 of 1998), malicious injury to property, assault with the intention to do grievous bodily harm, sexual assault, possession of dagga, possession of dagga in public and possession of suspected drug substances.
All suspects were charged and detained at the Roodepoort Police Station and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon.
