Play your role in saving the world

Save the world one glass bottle at a time.

Resident can take part in saving the environment by just recycling glass – it’s as easy as that.

There are numerous reasons why one should recycle glass, including the facts that recycling helps the environment and secondly, the amount of energy needed to melt recycled glass is considerably less than that needed to melt raw materials to make new bottles and jars. Recycling one bottle can save enough energy to power a television set for one and a half hours. This is reason enough to get anyone to start recycling.

The Glass Recycling Company has placed two glass banks in our area. A glass bank is a very large container for collecting a community’s recyclable glass. This is used as a recycling point where members of the public can deposit waste glass to be recycled. The presence of a glass bank encourages local residents to engage in responsible recycling behaviour by separating waste and becoming involved in the collection of used glass.

The glass banks in our area are at the Retirement Village, 7 Steinmann Road, Phases 3 and 4 Wilro Park and at the Senior Park, 69 Drommedaris Street, Witpoortjie. The Glass Recycling Company believes in the infinite potential of glass recycling to make a real and positive contribution to society and has placed thousands of these glass banks countrywide.
